The Garmin GPSMAP 820xs is a combination Chartplotter and Fishfinder for those who will be doing their boating and fishing outside of the US. With a Built-in Worldwide BaseMap the The 820 boasts a bright and clear 8” color display and intuitive key button operation. With the ability to add SideVu fishfinder, radar, weather and the capability of being controlled or viewed with Garmin Helm, the GPSMAP 820XS is a top choice for almost any application.
With Dual SD Card Slots you can add mapping for anywhere in the world - Choose From Garmins extensive line of BlueChart G2 or G2 Vision Charts. With Garmin Bluechart you will get all the basic charting details including Tidal Stations, Currents, Depth Contours and More. Garmin g2 Vision Charts add futher detail which will provide Auto Guidance, High Resolution Satellite Imagery and 3-D perspectives above and below the water line. For Inland Lakes you can add the optional LakeVu HD Ultra Chart which provides Auto Guidance, Depth Range Shading, Dynamic Lake Level Adjustment and 3-D perspectives above and below the waterline
Built-in behind the crisp 8” display is an HD-ID 1kw sonar and DownVu Sonar with CHIRP. With The Included 77/200 HD-ID/ DownVu Transom Mount Transducer providing 500W Traditional Sonar and 500W DownVu CHIRP you will see images below your boat to depths of 1,900 feet with Traditional Sonar and 750 feet with DownVu. By adding the optional GCV 10 Black box sonar you can add SideVu scanning and a traditional CHIRP sonar. CHIRP, Compressed High Intensity Radar Pulse, Sonar operates differently by transmitting multiple frequencies that are sent continuously from low to high frequencies, instead of by just one frequency thus providing a more coherent image. With all of these fishfinding technologies at your fingertips, you can now see fish, bait, structure, ledges and rocks like never before.
Another part of your complete Garmin helm is Radar. From the 18xHD all the way up to the 1206xHD you will know what is around your making navigation safer. The 840XS will let you view the radar in full screen or split screen with fishfinder or chart. You also have the ability to overlay the radar onto the chart (heading sensor required). On anchor? Set up guard zones to know if anyone or anything comes with-in your allotted range. Offshore fishing and looking for birds? Add a 6kw open array or larger and see where the birds are feeding to find the bait and the fish. Simply want to make sure you don’t hit anything in the dark or fog? Add the 18xHD or 24xHD to view objects you can not normally see with the naked eye.
Full Network Capabilities, The 820xs has a NMEA 2000 networking feature built in allowing you to add Sirius XM weather, engine information, Fusion Link, Garmin Meteor control and other NMEA 2000 devices. You can also add more displays that will share information.
